Akron Marathon
The Akron Marathon Race Series, presented by Summa Health, offers a full season of events that bring together runners and walkers of all levels for fun, challenge and community. The series includes the National Interstate 8K & 1 Mile, the Goodyear Half Marathon & 10K, and culminates with the FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon & Team Relay. It’s a chance to chase personal bests, walk for fitness or simply enjoy the excitement of the finish line on the iconic Blue Line.
Sports Venues
Firestone Stadium
Akron sports enthusiasts can head to the recently renovated Firestone Stadium to experience exciting games and brand new, state-of-the-art turf fields. It’s home to the OHSAA Softball Championships, the GMAC Softball Championships and the MAC Softball Championships.
Rubber City Sports at Goodyear Gym
As part of Goodyear Hall, the 292,000-square-foot Goodyear Gym features a gymnasium with state-of-the-art amenities. Originally built in 1920 as a recreational and social center for employees of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, the building carries forward its legacy of bringing people together through sports and community. Today, it remains a unique venue, hosting indoor tournaments for volleyball, gymnastics, martial arts, cheer and more.
Lee R. Jackson Track & Field Complex
Lee R. Jackson Track & Field Complex at the University of Akron boasts a new eight-lane, 400-meter Rekortan surface. The facility hosted the 2023 MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships and the Annual Pole Vault Convention.

Golf
Golfers of all skill levels can discover a variety of golf courses in Akron and Summit County. From traditional courses to state-of-the-art golf complexes, it’s never been easier to hit the greens.

Rock Climbing
Adventure enthusiasts can head to Rock Mill Climbing for indoor rock climbing and yoga. This bouldering gym for all ages also has a fully-equipped fitness studio with a powerlifting setup.
For a steep climb, look no further than Kendall Cliffs Rock Climbing. Their 7,000-square-foot climbing surface rises up to 35 feet high, providing a challenge for more seasoned climbers.
Pickleball
Play pickleball in Summit County at several stellar facilities. LaTuchie Tennis Center is home to four indoor pickleball courts, while Towpath Tennis Center has eight indoor and 10 outdoor pickleball courts. It also houses Northeast Ohio’s largest tennis and pickleball specialty pro shop. Green Tennis Club offers regularly scheduled play on Monday afternoons from 1 to 3 p.m.
Beyond these, the sport continues to grow at places like Twinsburg Fitness Center and Tallmadge Recreation Center. Many of these spots also host lessons, clinics, leagues and tournaments for all skill levels. And you can find court times available at community parks throughout small towns like Bath as well as the entire Greater Akron area.
Bowling
Family-friendly bowling in Akron and Summit County is a perfect way to spend time together, whether you’re rolling strikes or just enjoying the atmosphere. Spins Bowl Akron offers 64 lanes, arcade games and plenty of space for group fun, while Station 300 Bowling Alley keeps the good times rolling with 48 lanes and a lively setting for the whole crew.
