State-of-the-Art Venues
Firestone Stadium
Firestone Stadium is home to the OHSAA Softball Championships, the GMAC Softball Championships and the MAC Softball Championships. In 2023, it underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation to include brand new, state-of-the-art artificial turf fields; renovated restrooms; concessions; HVAC; new press equipment; upgraded scoreboards; and new dugouts.
Rubber City Sports at Goodyear Gym
Hold your next indoor tournament at Rubber City Sports at Goodyear Gym. It is part of Goodyear Hall, a 292,000-square-foot project that includes a gymnasium, auditorium, theater, offices, classrooms and restaurants. It’s a perfect venue for volleyball, gymnastics, cheer and dance, futsal, martial arts and many types of tournaments.
Lee R. Jackson Track & Field Complex
In 2022, the Lee R. Jackson Track & Field Complex at the University of Akron completed a $1.2 million renovation. It boasts a new eight-lane, 400-meter Rekortan surface and newly updated field event areas. It has hosted the 2023 MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Annual Pole Vault Convention and will host the upcoming 2024 NCAA DI Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Championships.
